“ Clearly this place is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Montreal. I’m going mainly for the sashimi. Their scallops are amazing. I pre order the grilled yellowfin collar bone because I don’t see it on the menu anymore. But it’s the best! Give me that, the agedashi tofu, eggplant and a bowl of rice and I’m in heaven ! ”
“ The best and most authentic Japanese food in Montreal by far. I typically order multiple appetizers when I come here, as there is a wonderful variety. I recommend: - agedashi tofu (the standout menu item, better than any I was able to find in Japan) - spicy eggplant - korokke - grilled fish (especially if the yellowtail cheek is available) The katsudon is also very good, in large part due to the broth. The broth used here is consistently amazing. I've been coming to Furusato for over a decade and was devastated when they closed during covid. It's a blessing they've returned and I hope they'll be open forever. Their sushi chef is currently out due to injury, which is sad, but it does not affect my decision to recommend Furusato at all. It's still the best. (Selfish comment: It would be great if they expanded the cooked fish options, as it's a unique part of this restaurant... I miss the salted mackerel from the previous location, and miso mackerel would be truly amazing...) ”

“ They’re finally back!! My favorite little family owned Japanese sushi shop has finally re-opened after a 3 year wait! Always reserve for dinner. The sushi rolls here are huge and packed with so-fresh-it-melts-in-your-mouth fish. Try the scallop - nigiri, maki - it does not disappoint. They no longer have it on the menu, but for the crowd that use to come here and order the shiso-ume roll, you can still ask them to make it. ”

“ Went into it not expecting much but the staff is really friendly and helpful. I think they came to pour water for us 3-4 times throughout our dinner. We got katsudon and unadon karaage as appetizers Servings are fine, you won’t get extremely full, which isn’t a bad thing. Prices are fair for this economy. Atmosphere was nice as well. Giving 5 star As usual, go try it yourself to get your own experience/opinion! ”
